Time Slots -- Parent's Night Scheduling Made Easy

Do you dread trying to schedule parents for Parent's Night? Have you tried sending times home only to find out that the time wouldn't work? Do you feel like you're working harder that this than your students? If so, it's time for a change!

I used Google Time Slots to simplify scheduling conflicts and put the responsibility on my students. This video is about 5 minutes and that's all it will take you to set this up. The rest is up to your students. I also used this to schedule study hall so that I wouldn't say yes to too many students on the same day.

You've opened the New Google Sites and you are ready to start adding your information. This week we are going to look at the items that can be inserted on your website. We will also look at items that you should try to stay away from if you can help it to make your site more ADA compliant.

BONUS: At the end of the video there is a "How to..." insert a Twitter feed onto your website. Just as a reminder, Twitter is blocked for students at school, so keep that in mind when you use Twitter.

The New Google Sites -- Why should we update our websites

Have you ever had to remodel a house? At some point you probably thought, why am I doing this. I would be cheaper and less time consuming to build a new house! This could be true about updating your website, it might be easier to start over than trying to fix your current site.

We are going to be focusing on updating your website so that it is come ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. Throughout the video and this month we will be working on becoming more compliant. I am by no means an expert, nor do I believe that any website will ever be 100% compliant. This is just a baby step in the right direction.

Breakout Boxes -- Done Digitally

I am the world's worst at using locks that do not have a key. With that said, the library has 4 Breakout boxes that can be checked out for you to create your own Breakout. One box is missing a 4 letter word lock but I hope to replace that soon.

As I have had several teachers wanting to use the boxes on the same day since we had our recent inservice, I began thinking how can we make this happen quickly. Solution, let's go digital!

I have found many resources on this topic and thought I should share them with you.

I found this website that has template site for you to copy and even an example. You'll still need to create a form like above, but this allows you to put your clues online as well.
